Vision Testing

What is a Vision Testing?

Vision testing checks how well you can see. An eye doctor uses charts and tools to measure your clarity of vision, color vision, and side vision. These tests help find out if you need glasses or other treatment to keep your eyes healthy.

Based on your specific case, the doctor may perform any of the following tests:

Visual Acuity

This measures the clarity or sharpness of vision, usually with a Snellen chart (the chart with rows of letters that get progressively smaller).

Refraction Test:

Determines if corrective lenses (glasses or contact lenses) are needed and what prescription is necessary to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism.

Color Vision Testing

Assesses the ability to distinguish between different colors, often to check for color blindness.

Peripheral Vision Testing

Checks the side vision to detect any vision loss that may indicate conditions like glaucoma.

Depth Perception Test

Examines how well someone perceives the distance and depth of objects.

Eye Muscle Function Test

Evaluates how well the muscles around the eyes control eye movement.
